A roof-to-wall section specifies a continuous air barrier. The roof membrane and wall air barrier are each identified, but both terminate at the parapet without a connecting transition. Which revision directly resolves the missing continuity shown in this detail?

Compare the answer and reasoning
Detail a compatible, continuous transition connecting the roof and wall air barriers at the parapet.
Trace the air-control layer through the junction. The specified roof and wall air barriers must connect through a detailed transition. The revision should identify compatible materials, attachments, and continuity at the parapet. Insulation thickness, drainage capacity, and finish appearance address other decisions and do not connect the two terminated air barriers.
What to practice next: Trace each required control layer through the actual junction before choosing a repair.
Apply it to a different condition
At a different wall-to-roof junction, insulation is continuous but the air-control layer ends before reaching the roof air barrier. Has continuous insulation resolved the air-leakage path?
Check the new reasoning
No. Thermal continuity and air-control continuity are separate checks. Trace and detail the air-control transition, including its substrate, joints and compatible connections. A thermal improvement alone does not close the air path.

System integration, detail literacy, evidence search, and architectural judgment must work together under time pressure. The useful response is a more specific diagnosis, not automatically more of the same material.

Does this program cover all six ARE divisions?+
No. This program covers Project Development and Documentation (PDD). Project Planning and Design (PPD) is a separate division. ReasonSpan™ provides free PPD guides and an invited development pilot; paid enrollment is closed. Choose resources for the division you intend to take.
Is enrollment open?+
Yes. Public enrollment is $99 as a one-time payment for 90 days of individual access. There is no subscription or automatic renewal.
Is this designed only for repeat candidates?+
No. First-time candidates use the diagnostic to establish a baseline and avoid unfocused study. Repeat candidates receive additional emphasis on identifying why earlier preparation did not convert into the desired result, while preserving demonstrated strengths.
Can I extend access if I need more time?+
Paid Project Development and Documentation members can claim one complimentary 30-day extension once per enrollment, during the final 30 days of access or up to 30 days after it expires. Sign in and visit the access extension page. An active extension starts at the original end date; an expired extension starts when claimed. No payment or automatic renewal is involved.
Does ReasonSpan™ reproduce NCARB practice questions or copyrighted reference material?+
No. The program uses original questions, figures, project records, case studies, explanations, and learning sequences. Official and technical references are used to verify concepts and current requirements, not to copy protected questions, prose, tables, figures, or book organization.
Which current ARE item types are included?+
The course uses multiple choice, check-all-that-apply, and accessible region-selection items. NCARB states the exact number of responses to select in bold. ReasonSpan™ practice does the same.
Will the mock exams include the exam tools?+
Yes. Mock and diagnostic interfaces include a functionally comparable calculator, a persistent multipage notepad with text and drawing tools, item navigation, marking for review, exhibit zoom, and break-lock rehearsal.
Does the program guarantee a passing result?+
ReasonSpan™ does not guarantee a passing exam result. ReasonSpan™ is designed to make the preparation decision more specific, make reasoning errors visible, and verify whether improvement transfers to new work.

October 2026 appointment policy: NCARB allows rescheduling up to three times per exam seat, at least 168 hours before the appointment. The fee is free at 31 or more days, $75 at 15 to 30 days, and $150 at seven to 14 days. Cancellation at least seven days ahead costs $200 and preserves a seat credit for one year. Changes inside seven days are unavailable. Check the current NCARB fee schedule and your NCARB Record before making a change.
