01Process

Locate the decision relative to the baseline

Notice
Required work is missing from a draft plan.
Decide
Before approval, correct the draft with the team and revisit dependent estimates. After approval, assess the impact and follow the authorized change path.
Avoid
Formal baseline control cannot protect a baseline that does not yet exist; a first draft is also not a license to omit known work.

Transfer check: What single fact in a question changes the response from planning correction to change control?

Concept areas: Scope Performance Domain; project life cycles
02People

Facilitate persistent conflict

Notice
The parties have tried to resolve a disagreement and work is now blocked.
Decide
Bring the parties together, clarify the shared objective and evidence, agree how the decision will be made, and escalate only if authority or consequences require it.
Avoid
Waiting indefinitely can masquerade as empowerment; imposing an answer before understanding the disagreement can damage it.

Transfer check: What would require the sponsor's decision rather than a team-level resolution?

Concept areas: Be an Accountable Leader; Build an Empowered Culture
03Business Environment

Verify benefits after handoff

Notice
A delivered solution passes acceptance but intended users do not adopt it or realize its promised benefit.
Decide
Measure use and outcomes, investigate the workflow obstacle with affected people, improve the transition, and keep benefit ownership visible.
Avoid
Technical acceptance is a milestone; it does not prove that the organization receives the promised value.

Transfer check: What leading adoption measure and outcome measure would you monitor separately?

Concept areas: PMBOK 8 focus on value and stakeholders; PMI Agile Practice Guide organizational change
