The PE Civil: Construction exam is computer based and contains 80 questions. NCEES lists a nine-hour appointment: two minutes for the nondisclosure agreement, eight minutes for the tutorial, eight hours of examination time, and a 50-minute scheduled break.
The exam may include conventional multiple-choice questions and alternative item types. ReasonSpan™ currently uses original multiple-choice questions while modeling key timing, section-locking, and break conditions. It does not reproduce every NCEES item type.

The ReasonSpan™ program maps its diagnostic, reviews, and targeted practice across all 11 current Construction knowledge areas. The ranges below are the NCEES blueprint ranges for exams scheduled through March 2027.

What the blueprint means for study
- Do not allocate time only by question count. Combine blueprint weight with your diagnostic accuracy, confidence, pacing, and reference-navigation evidence.
- Practice deciding which relationship and reference section governs before beginning arithmetic.
- Use timed work to test execution, but use flexible review to repair the reasoning behind repeated errors.
- Recheck an identified weakness with previously unseen questions before treating it as resolved.
