Use the remaining time to repair specific decisions

This plan is for candidates who have already begun preparing and now need a focused final review. It is a study recommendation, not a claim that two weeks can replace a complete preparation cycle or guarantee a passing result. Adjust the workload to your available time, health and existing preparation.

Begin with the free eight-question sampler if you are evaluating ReasonSpan™. It contains two questions per domain, so use it to inspect the method and notice possible weaknesses, not to establish readiness. Enrolled candidates can use the broader 40-question diagnostic and their existing practice record to choose priorities.

Only a week left? Start from your existing preparation

Use this shorter sequence when you already have a preparation foundation. With eight or nine days remaining, use the extra day or two for a baseline and the highest-priority repair before starting the sequence. Do not compress two weeks of work into seven exhausting days. Neither this plan nor a sampler score establishes readiness or guarantees a passing result.

DayStudy actionWhat to verify
1Review recent misses and slow searches. Choose two recurring weaknesses and keep a short mixed set across all four domains.Record the governing condition, error cause and next repair for each priority.
2If your schedule and recovery permit, complete one mock under its stated time and break rules. Otherwise use timed blocks and label the rehearsal partial.Keep reference delays, uncertain decisions and late-session errors. Partial blocks do not establish full-session endurance.
3–4Review the rehearsal. Work the relevant solved lesson, then close the solution and try materially different questions.Explain why the relationship applies, preserve units and check the result against the stated limit.
5Use a fresh mixed set across electrical, mechanical, structural and project administration work. Repeat searches that were slow.Look for transfer of the repaired method, rather than recognition of remembered answers.
6Recheck the remaining recurring errors and practice finding the appropriate handbook or listed standard.Use concise error notes and stop expanding into low-priority new material.
7Confirm official appointment instructions, identification and travel. Keep review light and preserve sleep.Check current instructions with NCEES and your testing provider.

A 14-day sequence you can adapt

DaysStudy actionEvidence to keep
1–2Review your recent practice or complete a baseline. Separate concept gaps, reference delays, calculation mistakes and coordination misses.Choose three recurring weaknesses. Record the governing condition and one useful repair for each.
3–5Repair the highest-priority weakness. Work a solved example, explain the method without the solution, then attempt different questions.Confirm that the method works on changed loads, units or system conditions.
6–7Repair the next two weaknesses and complete a mixed set across electrical, mechanical, structural and project administration work.Compare accuracy, confidence and pacing without replacing every study hour with your weakest domain.
8Reserve enough time for one complete mock under that form's stated timer and break rules. If this is impossible, use two timed blocks and label them as partial rehearsal.Keep flags, slow reference searches and late-session errors. A partial session does not verify full-session endurance.
9–11Review the mock by error cause. Rebuild recurring errors and perform short, deliberate reference searches. For each repaired miss, state why the governing relationship applies and why the tempting alternative fails.
12–13Attempt new mixed work and repeat the searches that were slow. Add a second full rehearsal only if time and recovery permit.Look for transfer to unseen work. A remembered answer is not evidence of repair.
14Review concise error notes, check official appointment instructions and prepare required identification and travel arrangements.Keep the final day manageable and preserve sleep. Confirm current rules with NCEES and your testing provider.

An original 90-minute targeted study block

The 90-minute block is an illustrative study allocation, not measured instructional credit or an official exam requirement. Repeat it only as your available time permits.

TimeAction
10 minutesChoose one prior error and state its governing condition.
25 minutesWork a reference example and verify applicability, units and assumptions.
35 minutesAttempt different practice questions without reading the solutions first.
15 minutesReview reasoning and classify any new misses.
5 minutesWrite the next study action and schedule a later retrieval check.

Keep all four domains in the review

  • Electrical: distinguish connected load from demand load, preserve voltage and phase relationships, and validate equipment interfaces.
  • Mechanical: identify the load or flow condition before selecting a relationship; keep sensible, latent and total quantities distinct.
  • Structural: trace the load path and determine which temporary or permanent condition governs.
  • Project administration: identify the contract authority, documented requirements and coordinated response before accepting a change.

Let the evidence choose your next session

If the answer was wrong with high confidence, prioritize the misconception. If the method was correct but the reference search was slow, practice the source and applicability check. If early work was sound and later work deteriorated, address pacing and session endurance. Treat a small sample as a signal to investigate, and verify the repair with new work.
